Surface Water Mapping from SAR Images Using Optimal Threshold Selection Method and Reference Water Mask

چکیده

Water resources are an important component of ecosystem services. During long periods cloudiness and precipitation, when a ground-based sample is not available, the water bodies detected from satellite SAR (synthetic-aperture radar) data using threshold methods (e.g., Otsu Kittler–Illingworth). However, such do enable to obtain correct value for backscattering coefficient (?0) relatively small areas in image. The paper proposes substantiates method mapping surface bodies, which makes it possible correctly identify even “water”/“land” class imbalance situations. operates on principle maximum compliance resulting mask with given reference mask. Land Surface Water Mapping Using Multi-Scale Level Sets and a Visual Saliency Model from SAR Images

Land surface water mapping is one of the most basic classification tasks to distinguish water bodies from dry land surfaces. In this paper, a water mapping method was proposed based on multi-scale level sets and a visual saliency model (MLSVS), to overcome the lack of an operational solution for automatically, rapidly and reliably extracting water from large-area and fine spatial resolution Syn...

Altitude measurement using laser beam reflected from water surface

In this paper altitude measurement from water surface using laser beam is presented. Research data indicate that the reflection of infrared waves from water surface is about zero and it is less than 2% for visible radiations. Phase-shift and heterodyne technique was used for the measurement, and the laser beam ( mW p nm 10 , 700 = = l ) was modulated by a sine wave having a fixed frequency....

Dynamic Threshold Selection for the Classification of Large Water Bodies within Landsat-8 OLI Water Index Images

Surface water distribution extracted from remote sensing data has been used in water resource assessment, coastal management, and environmental change studies. Traditional manual methods for extracting water bodies cannot satisfy the requirements for mass processing of remote sensing data; therefore, accurate automated extraction of such water bodies has remained a challenge. The histogram bimo...

A Comparison of Land Surface Water Mapping Using the Normalized Difference Water Index from TM, ETM+ and ALI

Remote sensing has more advantages than the traditional methods of land surface water (LSW) mapping because it is a low-cost, reliable information source that is capable of making high-frequency and repeatable observations. The normalized difference water indexes (NDWIs), calculated from various band combinations (green, near-infrared (NIR), or shortwave-infrared (SWIR)), have been successfully...

Fat water decomposition using globally optimal surface estimation (GOOSE) algorithm.

PURPOSE This article focuses on developing a novel noniterative fat water decomposition algorithm more robust to fat water swaps and related ambiguities. METHODS Field map estimation is reformulated as a constrained surface estimation problem to exploit the spatial smoothness of the field, thus minimizing the ambiguities in the recovery. Specifically, the differences in the field map-induced ...
